We will talk more about how our attorneys can help you get out of a Florida speeding ticket at the end.<\/p>\n<p>But first, let&#8217;s talk about how the fines you pay for speeding increase depending on how fast you are driving.<\/p>\n<h2>What Are the Penalties for Speeding in Florida?<\/h2>\n<p>Most ordinary speeding violations in Florida are noncriminal traffic infractions. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leg.state.fl.us\/statutes\/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&amp;URL=0300-0399%2F0318%2FSections%2F0318.18.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Florida Statute \u00a7318.18<\/a> currently sets the base speeding fines as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1\u20135 mph over: warning<\/li>\n<li>6\u20139 mph over: $25<\/li>\n<li>10\u201314 mph over: $100<\/li>\n<li>15\u201319 mph over: $150<\/li>\n<li>20\u201329 mph over: $175<\/li>\n<li>30 mph or more over: $250<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Court costs and other lawful surcharges can increase the total amount owed.<\/p>\n<p>Florida also assigns points for speeding convictions. Speeding no more than 15 mph over the lawful or posted speed generally carries three points. Speeding more than 15 mph over generally carries four points.<\/p>\n<h3>Repeat 30+ MPH Speeding Violations<\/h3>\n<p>A second or subsequent conviction within 12 months for speeding 30 mph or more above the limit carries a fine that is double the standard statutory amount.<\/p>\n<h3>When Speeding Can Become a Crime<\/h3>\n<p>Florida tiene un delito penal separado llamado exceso de velocidad peligrosamente excesivo. A second or subsequent violation occurring within five years after a prior conviction also results in driver\u2019s license revocation for at least 180 days and no more than one year.<\/p>\n<h2>How Much Is the Fine for Speeding in a School Zone?<\/h2>\n<p>There are no warnings for speeding in a Florida school zone. If you go 1\u20135 MPH over, you will receive a ticket and a $50 fine. If you go 5+ MPH over, you will pay two times the regular traffic fines we listed above.<\/p>\n<h2>How Much Is the Fine for Speeding in a Construction Zone?<\/h2>\n<p>Speeding in a posted construction zone while workers are present can earn you double the fines listed above. However, this only applies if the workers are on the road or adjacent to the road.<\/p>\n<h2>How Much Is the Fine for Speeding in a Penalty Zone?<\/h2>\n<p>Enhanced penalty zone fines begin at $50 for going 1\u20135 MPH over. If you go 6\u201330+ MPH over, you will pay the fine listed above plus $50.<\/p>\n<h2>How Much Is the Fine for Speeding on a Toll Road?<\/h2>\n<p>Speeding in a zone that collects electronic or manual tolls will earn you two times the amounts listed above.
